Human Rights Network

Human Rights Network is a group of human rights CSOs, brought together to jointly analyse, monitor, report, and advocate on the realization of human rights in Kosovo beyond their respective focus areas. 

Mission and Vision

HRN is a network of seven organizations that will work together on further advancing human rights for all in Kosovo. Civil society organizations play a critical role in analyzing, monitoring, reporting and advocating on the realization of human rights all around the world. Similarly, civil society organizations in Kosovo are at the forefront of the fight in ensuring that human rights and freedoms for all people are fulfilled, but in particular for the most vulnerable groups, such as, women, LGBTI people, people with disabilities, non-majority communities, children and youth.

Through the network we commit to continue our joint activism towards reducing inequalities, fighting injustices and demanding accountability and responsibility by the Kosovo institutions in respecting human rights for all. We commit to promote a more cohesive and comprehensive approach towards human rights monitoring, reporting and advocacy, hence encouraging partnerships and strengthening civic space in Kosovo.

KLI

Kosovo Law Institute (KLI) was established in 2009. KLI’s mission is to strengthen the rule of law and improve access to justice for citizens. KLI follows the vision to consolidate a society with democratic values that respects and promotes the principles of rule of law and good governance.

CEL

Center of Equality and Liberty (CEL) was founded in July, 2013. The vision of CEL is to make the world a better place where LGBTIQ+ people are safe, equal and free. Despite being a new organization, CEL has managed to become one of the leading organizations and driving forces for empowering the LGBTIQ+ community in Kosovo by promoting and protecting LGBTI rights and working towards the creation of an inclusive society that protects equality and recognizes and respects diversity.

NSI

New Social Initiative (NSI) is a civil society organization founded in 2015, working in Kosovo and cooperating with the key stakeholders in the Western Balkan region to ultimately impact inclusiveness, trust-building, democratization processes, and good governance in Kosovo.
While doing so, NSI follows its vision of an inclusive society built on trust and appreciation among its communities, in which citizens from all ethnic groups actively participate in the society and its governance.

VORAE

The non-governmental organization Voice of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians was founded in 2011 and it has a mission to support the mentioned communities through direct interventions in the areas of education, employment, housing as well as through advocacy and representation before the local and international governmental institutions and agencies. The vision of the projects in the NGO’ ’Voice of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians” is the goal of a truly multi-ethnic and multicultural society in Kosovo.

KGSC

The Kosovar Gender Studies Center was founded in 2002 by KFOS Women’s Program and was the first organization of this kind in Kosovo.
Kosovar Gender Studies Center seeks a society which is based on individual and group rights where gender equality and mainstreaming is included in all spheres of life, under strict implementation of laws, and a society where women would be able to achieve self-realization and personal and professional
development. The mission of Kosovar Gender Studies Center (KGSC) is to integrate gender-sensitive analysis, programs, and policies in all sectors of Kosovar society.

HANDIKOS

HANDIKOS is a Kosovar non-governmental organization of and for people with disabilities which was established in 1983 and works in: Prevention of disability, Promotion, Providing of services and in Recognition and Full Participation of People with Disabilities in our Society.

HANDIKOS is the oldest organization in the country, with the uninterrupted implementation of activities since 1983, and the most widespread organization in Kosovo, at the same time, is also a very influential organization in the field of disability.

YOUTH INITIATIVE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS (YIHR KS)

Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS), established in 2004, is a human rights organization which works towards protecting and promoting human rights and democratic values ​​not only in Kosovo but also in the Western Balkans region. In particular, YIHR KS is focused on three main programs: the processes of dealing with the past, protecting human rights and the rule of law, and strengthening youth at the local and regional levels.
